This week Audrone from Storm's Handicrafts chose "chess" for the European Street Team on Etsy.
Here's what I made. I really love this necklace. I think I'll make another one for myself ^_^

It is Queen Alice from Alice through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll. Drawing by Tenniel.

On the kittens front, Bob, Frank and Zoé are doing well, getting all chubby.

It's hard to work and not fall into kitten staring ;)

House work slowly getting done. I am doing my beadroom. Two walls are going to be orange, two other walls will be covered in gorgeous wallpaper.

I am slowly adjusting to my new house. I can't say I enjoy being by unfinshed work but I am getting used to it. If you're thinking of renovating a house, one piece of advice...hire only BIG companies. You might feel bad at first doing that and leaving out independant workers...but let's face it, independant workers are there to screw you...not renovate your house! Sloppy work, unfinished work, dangerous work...you name it, you'll get it!
And now on to a more fun topic...cats ^_^

The 3 kittens are doing extremely well. Frank, Bob and Zoé are growing. Frank is the only adventurous one so far.

Frank

Bob

and Zoé

The other cats are doing fine...except from Marvin. My poor old Marvin disappeared 2 weeks ago. I think he went out to die quietly in the "wild". RIP Marvin.

Marvin

And here's a little game, can you spot the 4 cats in this picture?

Daggett, Zouzou, Pikachu and Mario.
Yes, as you can see I am not finished unpacking yet...:/

My latest jewelry, available in my Etsy shop

Now Dina Fragola accessories are also available at Artfire. The shop is still a bit empty at the moment as I have not much time with all the work I need to finish myself in the house.
And you can also find me on Dawanda

Wow, I can't believe I have been in the new house for a week already. And what a week. I am pooped. It's a bit hard to adjust to the new surroundings, but the cats make it home :) Home is where Pikachu is, right =^.^=
On monday the 18th.

8 AM the truck is there...

It feels odd to see the house get emptied of its furniture and zillions boxes (not kidding, the removers called for extra help LOL)

They were done by 5 pm but the cat move was just starting for us.
I managed to get 7 home on the first day. Got the rest but 2 on the second and had to get sneaky for the 2 remaining ones. I had to give them relaxing pills so I could catch them.
But it's all done now...and they all seem happy in the new house and garden.
On the second night I had a surprise...my new extra cat (the one the neighbours gave up ) gave birth on my bed. I was sleeping and suddenly felt something warm and wet on me...I opened my eyes to see Eugenie (the catmom) with a dark lump...lump was kitten #1.
She had 3 (only 3 I am saying with relief). And they are ADORABLE.

Arent' they just perfect...all fluffy and chubby :) ?

Beavis and Butthead do DIY OH MY

As we're moving in less than a month, owners of the rented house we're currently in decided it was the ideal moment to replace the kitchen and bathroom. Yeah, they know about the move...
This house is part of "social housing". In the past, well, 40 years ago, when this house was built, it's still meant something. Nice houses, with no frill but high quality building standards.Things have changed since then. Now social housings in Belgium is pretty much the land of corruption and disrespect for people living in those houses.

The bathroom was replaced 7 years ago, it was like new...why did they decide it needed to be changed again? Especially by Beavis and Butthead. The kind of workers they hire these days, not too bright to start with ...and, gee...the poor work they do :/

Just take a look.

A closer look

Looks as flimsy as it is...I almost kicked one out just by vacuuming around it :/

I just love how it fits so nicely into the the sink..and how it hides the pipes behind it so well. I am not kidding, they left it just like that.

See the wire...it used to be the Earth wire of the bathroom light...(previous poor job of other Beavis's and Buttheads). Now it is officially illegal to use the bathroom light  as no insurance will cover that (most obviously). The fun part, is that they cut the wire but left it there and tiled around it.
I am sparing you the finished picture, I think you can imagine the tiling work fairly easily. I am disgusted, I had tiled that bathroom myself, with nice stylish blue and white ceramic tiles...and now ...it looks like you left a 3 year old play with plaster in there.

The kitchen. They tore away the sink with it's nice furniture ( 3 drawers, a nice work top)...it all had a nice vintage feel and was not damaged. OK, no hot water but surely they could have left everything in place and added a boiler. Noooo, everything went...Now, no more drawer, no more work top and a cheap sink and even cheaper furniture. Oh, and the tiniest boiler ever...perfect if Barbie wants a bath...useless if you want to wash the dishes.

I love how the doors hang so straight and all...the black stain doesn't come off either. And notice how they tore the wallpaper on the side (no idea why as it was not in  the way of anything) Ah, the love of a job well done!

This must be my favorite part, the little boiler is under the sink...and here's its cable...Beavis (or was it Butthead?) unplugged the microwave to plug the boiler in. Luckily he didn't decide to unplug the fridge instead... Sorry, I didn't take pictures after the tiling was done...but it is quite funny (and totally unsafe), as they plastered the electric cable in place.

But really, what puzzled me the most is that on the first day they were actually happy to show me their work!!!! I bet they could tell I was totally unimpressed because on the last day they left without saying anything...and with some wine bottles they stole from the basement.  I won't be too sorry if they poison themselves with it. What kind of excuses have they got for such mediocre work?

In a couple of months a family with 4 little children is going to move in...

AND IF YOU HAVEN'T READ the entire post, DON'T worry, this is about the old house, not the new one ;)

Ikea was installing my new kitchen today. They got there at 7.30 this morning and left at 6 pm. Long day. But me HAPPY. There's still a few details to finish (like wall tiles and stuff) but it already looks mighty pretty...especially if you remember how it used to be.

The Axe Kitchen (as in "made with an axe")

And now :)

Well, my cell phone pix don't do it justice ;)
I'll take good pictures when everything is done. The cooker is not there yet...and the microwave oven is also missing.
The dishwasher is WORKING !!!! Too bad the guy forgot the instruction booklet inside when he tested it :/ I now have a very clean booklet.

I have been really busy with the new house. The new tile floor is almost finished, the kitchen is being installed tomorrow and the bathroom should soon follow. I move in May and I am getting really nervous...I have not done much packing yet.

Well Pikachu packed himself as soon as he saw an empty box. He doesn't seem too thrilled though...

I have been neglecting my shops a little bit lately. But I have finally made a new piece (for the EST challenge on Etsy). I really like those new frames I got.

This week my mom dragged me out of the house (fighting and kicking) to go shopping. It turned out I was in a shopping mood after all ;)
I got a green raincoat from H&M

2 Alice in Wonderland shirts from Zara

And super kitsch sport shoes by Skechers

And I also got my present from my Secret Bunny...but I'll have to re-take the pictures as they turned out all blurry. But a BIG thanks to Evelyn from SumikoShop... I love my presents (very classy earrings and a super cute brooch, all packed in the cutest way)

Do you believe in cursed houses? I think mine is...you know , the one I bought last year and still can't move in for various reasons. When I come to think of it, it's a bit like that movie with Tom Hanks, The Money Pit. The only difference being that I haven't gotten stuck in a carpet in a hole through the floor (yet).

The problems...where do I start?

If the sellerand/or real estate agent seem dodgy...follow your instincts, run away, even if it is your dream house. TRUST ME on that one!
My seller actually had a business that went bankrupt...and is in debts up to his neck..which is why he sold the house in the first place. Of course he didn't tell...and as he never changed  the address of his business, my house is still the legal address of a dodgy busness...Wonderful, heh...I get the bailiffs and all...and can't start my own business either in the meantime.
And when on  top of a dodgy seller and real estate agent the notary turns out to be one of their friends (he wrote all the legal paper for the "business") you can imagine the kind of troubles I am in. I am expecting more problems...soon. I had the "official" act of the sale double checked by other notaries...and it does contain mistakes...I just hope it doesn't make the sale void...as the seller has now disappeared (in another country) and I have already started the renovation work in the house.

The renovation...bwah ha ha ha  Good thing I did want that hideous fireplace destroyed...when the workers removed the big wood panel it turned out it completely burnt on the inside.
The electricity: warf warf warf...most cables were missing from behind the plug and lightswitch...and the whole house was wired with tiniest wire you can imagine...what would be OK for a little lamp...nothing else. Illegal and super dangerous too. And the connections between wires were not even in boxes, the live wires were just lying like that on the floor of the attic. And it was wired really funny...I mean, you unplugged something in the garage and it would turn off the patio light because , for some unexplainable reasons, the wire of the patio light was linked to the wire of a lamp in the garage.
So, you guess right, I am having the whole electricity redone now...and the water pipes too.
The water pipes... when we visisted the house we found it a bit strange that the bathroom had been redone in some places (new tiles)...it was to hide the actual leaks in the crunched water pipes...so now huge water damages, not in the bathroom but in my "future" bedroom, the whole wall is black and the wooden floor is a nice mess.
And shall I mention the piles of junk the seller left behind...carefully hidden a little bit all over the place, the burnt window in the garage (carefully hidden too)?. It went from broken mirrors (and, man how can someone have so many mirrors anyway?), swimming pool bits, tires, dogtoys, car parts, trash cans.... It must have taken the seller more time to hide it all then to just put them in the trash right away. Well, he also left his cat behind. For Juju (how I named the cat) it was like winning the Euro Million though...so it was not all bad for everyone.
And to get all the works coordinated...where's the plumber...he has also disappeared for 2 weeks now. And since he didn't come, the guy who puts the new floor tiles can't start working (and was pissed at me).

Then there were the bank problems. They "forgot" about my loan....that I asked in October and still haven't got...if all goes well, I sign the paper on Friday (the 13th...well, it fits a cursed house). But I am not holding my breath till then, as my bank is Fortis and is in BIG trouble right now.

But the worst part is that I really loathe the place now, I hate going there, I find any excuse not to go check on the work and stuff. If I could resell it right away without losing a lot of money I'd do it faster than I can type this. I really cannot see myself living there, I cannot even picture it in my mind.

The Ikea kitchen is being delivered on the 18th...if I get my loan on Friday...I am waiting for the next problems...

Pikachu (and all my other cats) and myself would like to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR

2003 to 2007 were fairly nasty years for me so I am grateful 2008 was merely boring. May 2009 be good and exciting!

No, I am not making any new year resolutions...

I am not a Christmas person...never have been, what I mainly like is getting a tree inside the house and watch the cats destroy it ;)

"What do you want for Christmas?" Huh, I don't know...a life maybe...OK, I am feeling very uncheerful today.

So here's my funniest Christmas story. I have an aunt (who's a millionnaire by the way, yes, a real millionnaire in euro and all) that I don't like much (understatement there...darn I guess I am off her will now) who used to invite herself  for Christmas meal. Last time she came (I don't let her invite herself any longer) the meal was...interesting to say the least. I already knew she enjoyed removing her denture and picking food in other people's plates...but she outdid herself. The main meal had started when she suddenly rose and declared "I keep farting, I need to go to the loo". That pretty much left everyone flabbergasted. I laughed so much that my make-up litterally ran in my plate and I had hicups for half an hour. I imagine not everyone was so amused though. And no, she is not old nor senile...
